Geoex MCG, in partnership with DUG Technology, has made a significant volume of newly reprocessed 2D seismic data from offshore Venezuela available to the industry. This release, facilitated by a specific U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) license, provides upstream companies an opportunity to re-engage with Venezuela's prolific yet under-explored offshore regions, which have been largely inaccessible due to sanctions.

Data Scope and Processing

The initial release involves over 18,000 kilometres of vintage seismic data reprocessed in 2025, covering three offshore areas. This reprocessing has enhanced imaging quality and revealed new prospectivity. The data forms part of a larger campaign offering access to approximately 40,000 kilometres of vintage 2D data and 4,500 square kilometres of vintage 3D data, providing broad regional coverage for early-stage evaluation and portfolio planning.

Available Data Packages

The first tranche consists of three specific, newly reprocessed datasets:

• Golfo 89C Package: This data has better elucidated formations associated with the 17 trillion cubic foot Perla gas field, which lies in Oligo-Miocene carbonates charged by a Tertiary source rock. The dataset reveals similar carbonate-type structures elsewhere, representing a petroleum system distinct from the Late Cretaceous La Luna interval of Lake Maracaibo.
• Delta Amacuro 80B Package: Covering an under-explored area near the Orinoco Delta, this refreshed data aims to improve understanding of the depositional environment and hydrocarbon potential. The area is near moderately deep-water discoveries with shallow targets and is within access distance of Atlantic LNG facilities in Trinidad & Tobago.
• Norte de Paria 80B Package: This dataset covers an area close to the Dragon, Hibiscus, and Rio Caribe gas discoveries. The reprocessed data, originally shot in 1980, offers better imaging of the Mio-Pliocene intervals associated with these fields. It provides a clearer image of complex relationships in the Carupano basin and allows for more detailed evaluation of domed structures. This area is also within tieback distance of Atlantic LNG facilities.
