QatarEnergy and Egypt's Ministry of Petroleum & Mineral Resources have signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance cooperation in the energy sector, with a specific emphasis on the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Egypt.

Agreement Details

The MoU facilitates continued collaboration, including long-term LNG deliveries. As part of this, QatarEnergy and the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) have agreed on the supply of up to 24 LNG cargoes for the northern hemisphere summer of 2026. The parties have also agreed to begin discussions on additional, long-term LNG supplies from QatarEnergy to Egypt.

Strategic Significance

The agreement builds upon recent successful cooperation between the two parties regarding LNG supplies from QatarEnergy's portfolio. It is framed as strengthening the bilateral relationship and enabling joint work to secure additional long-term LNG supplies. This is intended to meet Egypt's growing energy demand, which is driven by its robust economic and industrial growth. The expressed intent is to further collaborate to support Egypt's future LNG requirements.
