TotalEnergies and BluEnergies have entered a joint study and application agreement to explore a deepwater prospect offshore Liberia.

Technical Work Program

The partners will undertake an 18-month technical program focused on seismic reprocessing and seabed data acquisition across the LB-26, LB-30, and LB-31 blocks. The objective is to refine prospect definition and de-risk potential drilling targets within the Harper basin's deepwater fan play, specifically its basin floor fan system.

License and Strategic Intent

The collaboration is supported by a new reconnaissance license covering approximately 8,900 km². TotalEnergies holds a 65% participating interest in this license, with BluEnergies holding the remaining 35%. The companies intend to apply for one or more production sharing contracts, contingent on the identification of drillable prospects.

Geological Context and Prospectivity

The Harper Basin is located along the West Africa Transform Margin, a geological trend associated with successful deepwater discoveries in the region. BluEnergies had previously identified multiple large Cretaceous-aged fan prospects in the basin based on 3D seismic interpretation.
