Vantris Energy and Dolphin Drilling have formed a marketing agreement for the semi-submersible rig Blackford Dolphin, targeting Southeast Asia. This partnership aims to access a rapidly growing energy market.

Rig Specifications and Current Status

The Blackford Dolphin is a 1973-built, Aker H-3 design semi-submersible. It can operate in water depths up to 1,829 meters and features carbon efficiency, motion stability, and an eight-point mooring system. It is currently under contract for Oil India Limited until May 2026, after which it has no work scheduled. A special periodic survey is planned for early next year.

Marketing Scope and Partnership Rationale

Vantris subsidiary Sapura Drilling Asia will non-exclusively market the rig in Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, and other agreed locations. Vantris was selected as a partner due to its operation of the world's largest fleet of tender assist drilling rigs.

Dolphin Drilling's Fleet Overview

Dolphin Drilling owns three harsh environment semi-submersible rigs. Besides the Blackford Dolphin, the Paul B. Loyd Jr. is contracted to Harbour Energy in the UK until February 2028, with options to 2033. The Borgland Dolphin is undergoing reactivation and an SPS for a contract with Repsol set to begin later this year.
