Pancontinental Energy's Farm-Out Progress for Orange Basin Licence

Australian company Pancontinental Energy is advancing its farm-out process for Petroleum Exploration Licence 87 (PEL 87) in Namibia's Orange basin, following Woodside Energy's decision in March last year not to exercise its option to enter the licence. The company recently secured an extension of PEL 87 until 22 January 2027, conditional on drilling an exploration well, reprocessing seismic data to reduce unwanted noise, and undertaking an environmental impact assessment.

Data Room Access and Candidate Engagement

In its first-quarter statement, Pancontinental reported that invited candidates for the PEL 87 farm-out have accessed a virtual data room. Several groups are advancing their technical and commercial evaluations as they progress toward an investment decision. The operator is routinely engaging with these groups, providing supplemental technical and commercial information as requested.

Key Prospects and Potential

Pancontinental identified three "anchor" prospects in PEL 87: Oryx, Hyrax, and Northern Channel. These prospects offer very significant prospective resources and a decent chance of success if drilled. Notably, because Oryx and Hyrax share common play elements, a successful exploration well on either prospect has the potential to derisk the broader prospect inventory in the Saturn complex.
