ExxonMobil Selects Weatherford for Deepwater Operations in Nigeria

Weatherford has been awarded a deepwater completions contract by ExxonMobil affiliate Esso Exploration & Production Nigeria for work offshore Nigeria. While the financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, Weatherford will provide integrated services for both upper and lower completions on deepwater wells. ExxonMobil, through its affiliates, currently operates five deepwater blocks in Nigeria and is proposing to invest over $24 billion in two stalled deepwater projects in the country.

This Nigerian contract is part of a series of recent announcements for Weatherford. The company has secured multiple contracts in South America, including:

• Managed pressure drilling (MPD) services with driller Noble Corporation offshore Guyana, supporting ExxonMobil’s operations there.
• Well intervention and drilling activities with Constellation Oil Services offshore Brazil.
• An MPD services deal with Venture Offshore for the semi-submersible rig SSV Victoria in Brazil.
