Gary Neal Christenson has resigned as Chief Executive Officer of Bumi Armada with immediate effect, at his own request. His term was originally scheduled to expire in May 2026, but he sought and was granted an early release from his contract.

Leadership Transition

With no immediate replacement named, overall leadership and responsibility for company performance will be jointly assumed by Chief Financial Officer Luke Targett and Chief Operating Officer Alex Bridgen. Both executives will report to the company's risk management committee. Alex Bridgen is a recent addition to Bumi Armada, having joined after holding a senior role at MISC, the shipping and marine subsidiary of Petronas.

Company Context and Strategic Moves

Bumi Armada, a floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) contractor, is currently in a competitive bid against Yinson Production for an FPSO contract related to Mubadala Petroleum's Tangkulo gas field development offshore Indonesia. For this tender, Bumi Armada has partnered with compatriot NGLTech, while Yinson has teamed up with Indonesia's Synergy Engineering.

Concurrently, the company has been expanding its exploration and production (E&P) portfolio by acquiring offshore acreage in Indonesia. It intends to develop these assets using FPSO facilities. This strategic move occurs against a backdrop of previously failed merger talks between Bumi Armada and MISC regarding a combination of their floater businesses.

Additional Resignation

In addition to stepping down as CEO, Christenson also resigned from Bumi Armada's board of directors and from the boards of its subsidiaries and joint controlled entities on 6 April. The company's board acknowledged his service since May 2018 and wished him well in his future endeavors.
