One person has died and another is missing after a survey vessel capsized near the Jambusar coast in Gujarat, India. The vessel, which was carrying more than 30 workers, is reported to have capsized within seconds due to sudden strong tidal currents and rising waves.

Response and Rescue Efforts

Local fishermen rushed to the scene and began rescue operations, using clothing, ropes, and other supplies to pull workers from the water. Following the incident, the oil survey team was immediately withdrawn from the area and medical teams were called in to treat the rescued workers.

India's state-controlled Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) expressed deep concern over the incident but clarified that the personnel onboard were not its employees and that the vessel's operation was neither managed nor supervised by ONGC. The personnel were engaged by Asian Energy Services (AESL), an independent Indian energy services provider, for a survey assignment. AESL did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the incident.
