The OneSubsea joint venture, comprising SLB, Aker Solutions, and Subsea7, has secured a major engineering, procurement, and construction contract. The contract is for a standardized 20-well subsea production system for the Kaiping 18-1 project, operated by CNOOC Ltd in the South China Sea.

Project Scope and Technology

The contract covers the supply of a comprehensive subsea production system. The standardized kit includes:

• Dual electric submersible pumps
• Gas lift and gas injection horizontal trees
• Manifolds
• Connectors
• Control systems

It also includes installation and commissioning support. This technology mix is designed to reduce system complexity, improve operational efficiency, and facilitate future expansions of the field.

Delivery and Integration

The project will utilize an integrated delivery model. This approach is intended to compress installation schedules and minimize the requirements for offshore vessels.

Project Infrastructure and Timeline

The subsea production system will be tied back to a cylindrical floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessel. This FPSO is currently under construction by China's Offshore Oil Engineering Company (COOEC). The Kaiping 18-1 field, also known as Kaiping South, is located in the Pearl River Mouth basin. It is scheduled to begin production in 2029.
