ReconAfrica has commenced production testing operations at its frontier Kavango West-1X exploration well onshore Namibia, following the receipt of necessary regulatory permits. Work crews and a production liner procured from North America are on site, with contracts in place with Halliburton and SLB for equipment and services, and local suppliers engaged for support.

Well Data Analysis and Refined Results

In the four months since completing the well, the company has conducted studies on the well data to improve the subsurface picture. Updated log analysis, incorporating additional rock data, has refined previous results. A key example is the latest petrophysical analysis, which indicates 75 metres of net hydrocarbon pay in the Huttenberg formation—an increase from the previously disclosed 64 metres.

Testing Program Scope

The production testing will be conducted across six zones: three in the Huttenberg formation and three in the deeper Elandshoek formation. In total, 345 metres of prospective interval will be isolated and perforated for testing.

Market Reaction

Following the announcement of the start of testing operations on 26 March, ReconAfrica's stock price on the Toronto exchange rose nearly 18%, closing at just over C$1.0 (US$0.71) after reaching C$1.12 earlier in the day.
