Our team has successfully developed and implemented an extension for the nv.planning system, which assists one of the largest gas producers in the world in optimizing the schedule of drilling operations. The key objective of the project was to create a drilling schedule that would maximize recovery of hydrocarbons and reduce downtime, considering all production constraints.

The solution allows users to be flexible in adjusting production priorities for oil, gas or gas condensate. Once users set the weighting coefficients for each product type, the algorithm automatically generates the best possible schedule that can enhance production with reference to such coefficients and other restrictions associated with infrastructure, transportation, resources and climate conditions. The major benefit of this solution is its seamless integration with the nv.planning software, which means optimizing the schedule of both drilling operations and all subsequent stages, such as surveys, start-up, etc.

The implementation of the new solution has already delivered excellent performance for our customer, who succeeded in enhancing production over the given period and cut operating expenses by preventing drilling crew downtime. In addition, the planning process has significantly accelerated. Introducing this extension has been an important step in the evolution of nv.planning and we continue to refine the solutions we have.
