Smart Planning System for Resource Allocation
August 2025
One of our customers faced an operational challenge. To maintain the scheduled recovery levels of gas and gas condensate, it was necessary to ensure uninterrupted supply of hydrate inhibitor to all fields. This agent, which lowers the hydrate formation, had to be appropriately distributed between several production facilities and dozens of consumer fields. At the same time, it was necessary to take into account the ever-changing consumption volumes, transport and seasonal restrictions, as well as the need to avoid overfilling of storage facilities. Our team had to deal with a non-trivial issue, which we successfully solved.
The solution we have designed is an extension for the nv.planning system. It helps the user to optimize the schedule of hydrate inhibitor supplies with due regards to all process restrictions, minimizing transportation costs. Our team aimed to give special attention to usability: the module has numerous visualization tools. The interactive graphs display daily consumption, production and storage rates of hydrate inhibitor for all facilities, as well as detailed information on sales and transportation costs.
The tool which we have developed for comparative analysis is worthy of particular note. The user can now have the opportunity to visualize different supply scenarios as compared with various input data. This offers exciting possibilities for scenario modeling and informed decision-making.
Although the solution was originally created to optimize the supply of hydrate inhibitor, its universal architecture allows the system to adapt and tackle any resource allocation problems that imply complex logistics. We continue to improve this module by extending its functionality to meet the growing needs of the industry.
