Pressure Matching

The screen form contains three areas.

Area 1.

Contains the following elements:

  • Pressure Matching icon, illustration 1 – back. To return to the reservoir model;
  • Pressure Matching, illustration 2Select image to enlarge – select the matching settings page or matching variants. Matching settings are displayed by default. Matching variants are displayed only after a matching calculation is completed.
  • Name of the selected model in the model tree;
  • Match — To start reservoir pressure matching.

Area 2. Matching parameters

List of all parameters for configuration. All possible matching parameters are displayed. If at least one reservoir is selected for a parameter, the parameter row displays Pressure Matching icon, illustration 3.

List of available parameters for all reservoir types:

  • original oil in place, thsd m³. For oil reservoirs;
  • initial gas in place, thsd m³. For gas reservoirs;
  • initial water in place, thsd m³. For water reservoirs;
  • gas cap volume to oil in place ratio. For oil reservoirs;
  • oil rim volume to gas in place ratio. For gas reservoirs;
  • pore volume compressibility, 1/atm;
  • reservoir thickness, m. When an aquifer model is present;
  • reservoir width, m. When an aquifer model is present;
  • reservoir radius, m. When an aquifer model is present;
  • outer to inner radius ratio. When an aquifer model is present;
  • encroachment angle, °. When an aquifer model is present;
  • permeability. When an aquifer model is present;
  • aquifer volume. When an aquifer model is present;
  • conductivity. When connections between reservoirs are present.

Area 3.

Parameter settings and the list of reservoirs available for matching. Contains the following elements:

  • Reservoir search box;
  • Change – minimum percent change of the selected parameter during matching;
  • Max. – maximum percent change of the selected parameter during matching;
  • Apply. — to apply the minimum and maximum percent change of the parameter. You can apply the values to one reservoir or to several reservoirs at once.

Table with reservoir settings

Contains the following parameters:

  • Reservoir. Contains the list of available reservoirs (in the selected model) for the selected parameter. For example, if an oil reservoir is selected in the navigator, it is displayed when you select the "Original oil in place" parameter, but is not displayed under "Initial gas in place". Each reservoir row has a check box; when it is selected, matching is performed for that reservoir;
  • Base value. Base value of the selected/varied parameter. By default, the first entered value from the input form is displayed. For example, if the "Original oil in place" parameter is selected, this value equals the value from the "General data" tab, "Original oil in place" field;
  • Min. change, %. Specify the minimum percent change of the selected/varied parameter; matching is not performed below this value. Without a minimum percent change, the matching calculation will not run;
  • Max. change, %. Specify the maximum percent change of the selected/varied parameter; matching is not performed above this value. Without a maximum percent change, the matching calculation will not run;
  • Min. value. Displays the minimum value of the selected/varied parameter; matching is not performed below this value. Calculated automatically from the specified minimum percent change;
  • Max. value. Displays the maximum value of the selected/varied parameter; matching is not performed above this value. Calculated automatically from the specified maximum percent change.

Matching variants

Area 1

Contains the following elements:

  • Pressure Matching icon, illustration 4 – back. To return to the reservoir model;
  • Pressure Matching, illustration 5Select image to enlarge – select the matching settings page or matching variants. Matching settings are displayed by default. Matching variants are displayed only after a matching calculation is completed;
  • Name of the selected model in the model tree;
  • Variants, target – selected matching variant and the objective function value for the selected variant;
  • Apply — to apply the selected matching variant.

Area 2

Table of variants and objective function values. By default, 500 iterations of reservoir pressure matching are performed, and the best solution is saved as variant No. 501. If required, you can select any other matching variant.

Area 3

Graphical representation of matching results. Points on the plot correspond to the objective function values for each iteration.

Area 4

Tabular representation of matched reservoirs and the connections between them.
